My Canon SELPHY CP900 review...Ohh check out this little gizmo
Like many of you, I too want to print pictures instead of going to the store to wait for them. Sometimes the wait is worth it, sometimes...it is not, and if it is not, you are probably doing what most do..skim tirelessly through the photos and picking out all the imperfect ones. If the photo tech did a good job, then there shouldn't be many, otherwise you will probably get some comment like, "it's the lighting or some other proverbial comment that generally satisfies you. Recently, I bought an all-in-one ink jet printer. It is bulky, but looks pretty with all its lights and buttons. I tried my hand at printing a simple picture from one of my vacation trips, and overall, the quality of the picture was ok. I mean, you could tell that it was printed off a printer.
Well, I have been on a quest to find a photo printer that will produce a picture using vivid colors and no obscure lines or off colors without costing me bundle. Let me just say that I have been impressed with Cannon products for a long time, so this review might seem a little bias. Nonetheless, it's just my two cents. In any case, I was reading an article and came across the words "Dye Sublimation". What is this and what does it have to do with printing pictures. I am just as curious as you are. So let me shed some insight. According to How Stuff works, it allows you to print photo-lab-quality pictures at home. Now I sound like an expert, but trust me, I am a frugal person in a tight economy, and by no means or by any the stretch of the imagination am I an expert.
Ok, so this is my first time using a dye sublimation printer. I am totally wowed by the photo quality. It's so much realistic and crisper than the traditional inkjet printer. The printing process is fun to watch, the paper passes in and out four times taking about one minute to finish. I also love the option that you can date the photo. Photos can be printed borderless or bordered as shown in the picture below. So far I've printed postcard size photos from my SD card. The photo sheet is actually wider than the image and the printing area on the top and bottom are perforated. Go ahead, rip the ends off and no one will ever know that it was printed from the comfort of your own home in just under 60 seconds.
Overall, I am very pleased with this cute little lunch box sized photo printer. Around eighty bucks for the printer itself and less than thirty dollars for 108 papers. It's affordable and easy to use. Now it is taughted that the photos will last 100 years. Well, Cannon I'd like to be the first to validate your claim. In any case, the end result is exceptional, exceptional....and exceptional. No more travel photos stored away in memory cards...I might be stretching it a bit, but you get the point. It's a good buy and I am a satisfied camper.
Here are the best prices I can find for you at amazon. Perfect Xmas gift for your family or yourself!
